Tow Truck In Logan Utah. One of the things that gives us great pleasure is helping our customers get back on the road, back to their day to day lives or back to their vacation. Its kinda crazy ti think about what people did before the tow truck was invented. The car was invented in 1885, that is 31 years before the tow truck was invented. During those 31 years they used man power to get cars out of ditches, ropes and blocks. I would hope they at least tied the cars together and pulled them the best way possible as to not harm the car any more or break the pulling car.

The tow truck was invented here in the united states in Chattanooga, Tennessee by a man named Ernest Holmes. It is said the idea came to him after a car wreck took multiple men, blocks and ropes to get the car back on the road and out for the stream it had found itself in. Back in 1916 over a hundred years later we have the tow trucks you see today. Tow truck is the most common name for these helpful vehicles but other names for it include, a recovery vehicle, a breakdown truck and was also commonly called a wrecker.  Being that there are multiple types of vehicles and equipment that is used in our world today there is a need for multiple types of tow trucks to move or transport these vehicles and machines.
 
Tow Truck Equipment

• Flatbed: A flatbed tow truck is probably the most common type of tow truck seen on the road today. The flat bed tow truck has a hydraulic bed that lifts and tips at an angle, so the vehicle can be pulled up onto the bed with a winch. After the car is on the bed the bed will flatten back into its horizontal setting place. With the car strapped down it will stay in place while it is being transported.
• Self-Loader: the controls for the apparatus are inside the cab of the tow truck for convince to the driver. This type of system is typically set up in a light duty truck however there are some heavy-duty tow trucks with this type of system. The wheel lift lowers as the tow truck backs up and attaches to the front wheels of the car, lifts it, and then can drive away with the car, without the driver setting foot out of the tow truck. This type of tow truck is typically used in cases of reposition.
• Wheel-lift: A large mettle yoke is fitted under the car, front or back. It is fitted near the wheels of the car, when the hydraulic lifts the yoke the front or back of the car is then lifted with it. This allows the tow truck to pull the car on the 2 wheels that remain on the ground.
